Graphing calculators and graphing apps are often used in teaching mathematics courses. Makers of graphing calculators include Texas Instruments, Casio, Sharp, and Hewett-Packard. Popular graphing apps include Desmos, Free Graphing Calculator, Quick Graph, Graph ,+ and many more. In addition to graphing equations, these calculators and apps have many features such as zoom, trace, and table that allow you to explore many aspects of the equations and their graphs. Other features allow you to determine the x- and y-intercepts of a graph, the intersection points of two graphs, and other concepts of graphs that are discussed in calculus. Although most standardized testing allows use of specified models of graphing calculators, the use of smartphones and tablets is usually not allowed. However, some states are incorporating graphing calculator apps into computerized testing. Check with your instructor prior to using a graphing calculator or a graphing app to complete required work for your course. Copyright © by Desmos, Inc.
