Here are some things you can do to improve your performance on tests. • Arrive at the test site early. • As soon as you receive the test, preview it. Write down things you may have difficulty remembering, such as formulas, on the back of the test. • Answer problems you know how to solve first. • Next, attempt the problems that may be a challenge for you. Do not entirely skip them. Receiving partial credit is better than receiving no credit. • Read the test problems carefully. Pay particular attention to wording in test problems that could cause confusion, such as “at least” or “no more than.” • If the test is multiple choice, decide what the answer should be before reading the choices. Sometimes, you may have to make an educated guess. You may be able to eliminate answers that are obviously wrong or test each answer. • Check your progress. Try to have more than half of the test completed before half of the allotted time has passed. • However, take your time. Do not be concerned about being the last student to finish. • As soon as you complete the test, review it. Correct any mistakes you find.
